All Types of Stone Floors

These surfaces require a variety of treatments that are determined by the use of the stone and the environmental, chemical and physical forces they are subjected to.

Their viability often hinges on their instillation procedures, and the adjacent underlayments.

Marble for example is subject to light scratching and is reactive to low pH chemicals like vinegar and lime juice. Granite is impervious to both of these factors. Granite often needs to be cleaned, polished and sealed.

Each of these stone surfaces are used for floor tiles, interior and exterior cladding for walls and in showers, and counter tops in kitchens and bathrooms.

Examples of these refinishings include:

  • Floor restoration for natural stone includes using abrasives to remove edges of the tiles that are uneven and need to be “flattened” to light restorations that include acid etches and light scratches. Restorations include achieving honed as well as polished finishes. These restoration require using diamond abrasives and polishing compounds.
  • Wall refinishing are always focused almost exclusively on the shower walls. Showers are subject to acid etching from improper cleaning chemicals that dull the surface, as well as, soap film and mineral deposit buildup.
  • Counter top refinishing includes kitchen counters and bathroom that are subject to the same damages as those listed above. In some cases when used in kitchens cooking oils can penetrate into the surface and need to be removed using poultices.

At Fabric and Tile Masters we are able to diagnosis the problems with your natural stone and through our exclusive process return it to its original factory finish.
